Apple quietly discontinued the ‘Clips’ app, and it is no longer available on the App Store for new users, as reported by MacRumors.
The Clips app debuted in 2017 with a focus on creating short-form videos for social media. It allowed users to make short ‘clips’ from content such as images, videos, music, and voiceovers, along with support for filters and effects. Moreover, this app also came with support for automatic subtitles.
With the release of the iPhone 12 Pro with the LiDAR Sensor, Apple updated Clips to version 3.1 to use the new sensor for AR Spaces.
In a support document shared by Apple, “The Clips app is no longer being updated, and will no longer be available for download for new users as of October 10, 2025. You can continue to use Clips on iOS 26 and iPadOS 26 or earlier.”
If you still have the Clips app on your phone or if you had previously downloaded it, you will still be able to use it/redownload it until you install iOS/iPadOS 27, which is expected to be released next year.
In the document, they have also mentioned step-by-step instructions on how to save content from the app.
