Apple is expected to release iOS 26.2.1 and watchOS 26.2.1 as soon as this week. The update will most likely be released either today or tomorrow.
With the launch of Apple’s new AirTag today, Apple also confirmed their plans to introduce these versions as they are required for the new AirTag.
Apple says that the new Precision Tracking feature will be introduced on the Apple Watch on watchOS 26.2.1. However, they have not confirmed if the feature will work with the previous AirTag model with the first-generation Ultra Wideband chip.
According to Apple, setting up the new AirTag “Requires an Apple Account and iPhone with iOS 26.2.1 or later or iPad with iPadOS 26.1 or later.”
