We’ve had conflicting timeframes on when Apple will launch its first MacBook Pro models with OLED displays. Some are saying this coming fall, while some sources say that the launch could be pushed to spring 2027. Now, a report from Korea’s The Elec indicates that Apple is gearing up to launch those highly anticipated MacBook Pros in the fourth quarter of 2026, so we don’t have to wait too long to see such a major hardware refresh.

Last month, Samsung Display started mass production for its next-generation OLED panels that are destined for the major MacBook Pro refresh. What we can expect for this coming fall’s MacBook Pro refresh is certainly the M6 family of chips. However, only the higher-end models with the M6 Pro and M6 Max chips will actually see significant hardware upgrades, including tandem OLED displays (similar to that of the current iPad Pro), touchscreen support, and an all-new, thinner redesign. This means the base M6 model will retain the current design, so it’s possible that MacBook Pro will continue to have the same starting price at $1,599, but the real upgrade lies within the higher-end MacBook Pro models with the M6 Pro and M6 Max chips, which could see a price hike considering the advanced technologies Apple is going to pack in those machines. Still, it’s going to be worth the premium, and it will be the upgrade that’s worth waiting for.
