After weeks of beta testing, Apple has finally started rolling out macOS Tahoe 26.4 to the public with several new features and changes. This update comes almost three weeks after the release of macOS Tahoe 26.3.1, which introduced support for the new Studio Display, and one week after the release of the Background Security Improvements update for these versions.
In addition to new features, this update is expected to bring more stability in performance and battery life for users running previous versions.
According to Apple’s Release Notes, “This update introduces 8 new emoji, along with other features, bug fixes, and security updates for your Mac. For information on the security content of Apple software updates, please visit: support.apple.com/100100.
Some features may not be available in all regions or on all Apple devices. To learn more, please visit: apple.com/macos/feature-availability.

Along with new Emojis, this version of macOS also brings Charging Limits to the Mac, a feature that has been limited to the iPhone 15, iPhone 16, and iPhone 17 series. Similar to the iPhone, users can set their charging limit to 80%, 85%, 90%, 95%, or 100%. MacBook users who have their device connected to the charger most of the time and are looking to maximize their Battery Health can select the 80% Charging Limit for the best benefit.
macOS Tahoe 26.4 also includes the ‘Compact Tab Bar’ option in Safari Settings, which was previously removed. The update also adds wallpapers of the newly launched MacBook Neo to all Macs.
Apple keeps refining the software experience with every update, whilst also fixing security issues. However, Apple has not yet updated its Security Update webpage to incorporate the release of the new software versions.
This update is currently available for all devices that support macOS Tahoe, including:
- MacBook Air with Apple silicon (2020 and later)
- MacBook Neo (2026)
- MacBook Pro with Apple silicon (2020 and later)
- MacBook Pro 16-inch (2019) with an Intel chipset
