It has been reported now that YouTube Premium’s monthly price has increased and will be going from $13.99 a month to $15.99 a month, making it a $2 more per-month raise.
This is the first price increase on YouTube Premium since 2023.
YouTube Premium is a way for subscribers to stream videos on the video streaming service at an ad-free price. Other features include downloading videos and make them available offline and being able to hit the Sleep/Wake button on their iPhone and have YouTube running in the background. Those without Premium have to have their iPhone on and have the app open.
Another part of the YouTube Premium service is getting the entire selection and features of YouTube Music Premium.
Additionally, in the YouTube app in the App Store, users can subscribe to YouTube Premium via in-app purchases. The cost for that is now $20.99 a month (previously $18.99 a month).
The reason for the increasse by subscribing through in-app purchases is due to the 15-30% “tax” Apple takes from in-app purchases across all of its apps in the App Store.
Current subscribers can expect to see the new monthly price reflected in their bill this month.
