Today’s the day! The United States Mint has officially launched the dollar coin that honors Steve Jobs as part of its American Innovation $1 Coin program. For those not familiar with the program, it’s a multi-year program that commemorates innovation across the nation, including all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. territories. This year honors these states and their innovators:

  • Iowa: Dr. Norman Borlaug
  • Wisconsin: Cray-1 Supercomputer
  • California: Steve Jobs
  • Minnesota: Mobile Refrigeration

These coins are minted for one year only, making them even more special to collect. The question is: how do you get this coin?

The United States Mint offers this coin in either bags or rolls that you can order from its store:

  • Roll of 25 circulating quality $1 coins minted in Philadelphia: $61.00
  • Roll of 25 circulating quality $1 coins minted in Denver: $61.00
  • Bag of 100 circulating quality $1 coins minted in Philadelphia: $154.50
  • Bag of 100 circulating quality $1 coins minted in Denver: $154.50

Additionally, this coin will be part of the American Innovation 2026 $1 Coin Proof Set and the American Innovation 2026 $1 Coin Reverse Proof Set, both of which are set to launch later this year.

If you’d rather get just one single $1 California coin, then I’m certain Littleton Coin Company will offer those coins as single products in the next few months. I’ll certainly keep an eye out for that, and I’ll keep you updated.

This Steve Jobs coin is one very special coin that you don’t want to miss out on, especially to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Apple’s founding. Let us know if you collected this elusive coin. Happy collecting!
