We’re at the end of another month, so this means we have “Techtober” (as coined by Marques Brownlee) to look forward to. A few of the products we’re expecting to see are Apple’s highly anticipated smart-home products, and this morning, Mark Gurman from Bloomberg now has a more specific date on when Apple will unveil those products, and that date will be October 13.
The three products that are set to make their debut on that day are updates to the existing Apple TV 4K and HomePod mini as well as the all-new smart-home hub device. Those products were originally slated to launch in 2024; however, after the significant backlash from Apple Intelligence, Apple apparently delayed those products so that Apple could get things right for real. Earlier this year, Apple gave us a sneak peek of Siri AI, and initial feedback looked very promising. Since Siri AI has launched in the United States (as a beta), it will be without a doubt that Siri AI will be the top, highlighted feature for all the aforementioned smart home devices.
Last week, both the updated Apple TV and the HomePod mini were leaked, based on MacRumors contributor Aaron Perris’ findings. You could review the rumors that we expected for those products, but in summary, both the Apple TV 4K and the HomePod mini will feature more modern Apple silicon chips with more memory to run Siri AI. Additionally, the updated HomePod mini is set to come in new colors. In terms of this smart-home hub device we’ve all been anticipating, Gurman says that it will largely resemble the iconic design of the iMac G4 (more details will be outlined in a separate article).
Down the road, Apple also plans to update the larger HomePod in the not-too-distant future, and they’re also working on a privacy-focused home security camera as well as a higher-end version of the smart home hub with a larger display and a more adjustable robotic arm that could rotate 360 degrees.
With all that said, next month is shaping up to be another exciting, huge month for Apple.
