Within the past two weeks, an app called Chirp has come to the attention of the Twitter and Apple Watch users. It basically does the job that the old Twitter for Apple Watch app used to do.Â
What users can expect to do on this app is to be able to go on Twitter directly from their Apple Watch. This could come in handy when users are no able to use their iPhone to view Twitter and need something that is smaller and not as noticeable.
One of the things that I do like about the app early on is that the interface is so simple and has common sense. It’s easy to retweet and favorite tweets from other Twitter users, as well as make your own tweets via voice. All the user has to do is use Force Touch to activate the tweeting feature of the app. It’s that simple.
I also like that the app allows users to view Twitter profiles that include showing how many people follow that user and how many people they are following. It also shows the current trends going on within the social network.
The app does contain a Pro Version, which is in an in-app purchase. The prices vary by how much you are willing to spend for the Pro Version of the app. These prices are $1.99, $2.99 and $4.99. Note that whatever price you buy it at, you the user will get all of the Pro features out there.
I will admit that I did use this at work a couple times just to test it out and I have to say that it does come in handy. It’s literally just Twitter on your wrist.
According to TechCrunch, the developer has said that Chirp will not be impacted by the change in third-party apps that Twitter intends to make official in August 2018. The fate is not the same for apps like Tweetbot and Twitterrific.
Overall, Chirp gets 4/4 stars from me due to its simple interface and is an app that, like Twitter, gets to the point right as you open the app. Chirp is a free app in the Apple Watch and iPhone App Store.
Also, if you are interested, the developer does have an Apple Watch app designed for viewing Reddit on your Apple Watch too called Nano.
