Apple Inc. today confirmed to The Verge that new iPad Pro (3rd generation) models released at Apple’s October Event bend, and it’s “normal” and “not a defect”.
The new iPad Pro (3rd generation) models include breakthrough A12X Bionic processors, 4GB of RAM and Face ID systems, all in a package that’s about 5.1mm thin.
The bend is the result of a cooling process involving the iPad Pro’s metal and plastic components during manufacturing ”“Â this is a side effect of the device’s manufacturing process and shouldn’t worsen over time or negatively affect the flagship iPad’s performance in any practical way. We do not consider it to be a defect.
This is the second Apple iOS device which is prone to bend-gate, after the iPhone 6’s disaster, which Apple also declined to comment on with the following statement:
A bend in iPhone is extremely rare, as always for any questions on iPhone contact AppleCare.
