Australia’s Federal Court has ordered Apple to let users with Australian accounts download apps from rival marketplaces and directly from developers starting March 1, 2027, building on its 2025 finding that Apple abused its market power in Epic Games’ case. Developers will also be able to use other payment options and point customers to cheaper prices, and Apple can’t charge fees on apps distributed outside its store. Apple told AAP it will seek a stay and appeal.
