Apple steered roughly 80% of its first batch of iPhone Duo units to its own retail stores, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman said on his Power On podcast. Smaller stores reportedly got as few as 50 units while flagships held around 250, and Fifth Avenue was stocked especially heavily because Apple executives were there for launch. That split helps explain why online preorders slipped to late January within minutes while most launch-day line-goers walked out with a phone.
