According to reports, Apple is in talks with display manufacturers in Taiwan to include microLED displays in their devices, starting next year.

The Chinese site, Economic Daily News, says Apple will replace the OLED displays that are used in current Apple Watches and, instead, use microLED for the 2020 Apple Watch.

Former reports, from DigiTimes, said Apple is working with TMSC, Apple’s chip manufacturer, to make microLED displays for the Apple Watch with production starting as early as this year.

microLED includes many benefits for the Apple Watch, like making it slimmer and a longer-lasting battery. This is possible because it uses different light-emitting compounds than the current OLED displays in the Apple Watch.
