A former Apple Authorized Service Provider (AASP) known as @Choco_bit has shared what could be our first look at the upcoming iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max. The image, which appears to depict an unreleased iPhone model, looks to be from an internal repair or user guide. It should be mentioned that @Choco_bit has a strong track record of leaking upcoming Apple hardware in the past.Â
In the lower left-hand corner of the camera module, we can see an opaque circular element reminiscent of the recently released LiDAR Scanner featured on the 2020 iPad Pro. This image could provide a preview of how Apple plans to incorporate a long-rumored depth/ToF (time-of-flight) sensor into an iPhone. This new camera design appears to place the true-tone flash snuggly centered between a uniform grid of four sensors; Wide angle, Ultra Wide angle, and Telephoto lenses with the addition of a LiDAR scanner. Near the bottom of the camera module we see what appears to be a small microphone. iPhone 12 is rumored to feature a boxier and more industrial design similar to that of the iPhone 4 or iPad Pro (3rd-4th generation). While it can be hard to tell if that design is reflected in this image, I have edited an overlay of the leaked image onto an iPhone 11 Pro Max for comparison.Â
While Apple is expected to release a lineup of four new iPhones this fall, numerous reports have suggested that an iPhone 12 refresh may be delayed until 2021 due to the economic impact of the recent COVID-19 pandemic.Â
