Apple announced its refreshed iPhone SE a couple of hours back with amazing features at an affordable price. The tagline for this new iPhone is “Lots to Love. Less to Spend”. The iPhone SE was one of the most rumored device in the recent times. Since the iPhone SE is now announced after so many rumors, let’s take a detailed insight into it.

1. Design: The iPhone SE has the same design as the iPhone 8. It features a Glass Back and Aluminium design. This iPhone weighs just 148 grams or 5.22 ounces. It is 2.65 inches wide, and 5.45 inches tall. The power button has now shifted to the side and it no longer has a Headphone Jack. The only difference in design between the iPhone 8 and the iPhone SE is the fact that the Apple logo has now been shifted to the middle just like the iPhone 11 series. The front of the iPhone will be black in color irrespective of which color iPhone you purchase, just like the iPhones with Face ID. The iPhone SE has an IP67 water resistant rating of a maximum of 1 meter for upto 30 minutes. Liquid damage is not covered under Warranty.

2. Display: The Second Generation iPhone SE has a 4.7 inch Retina HD Display (LCD) with a 1334×750 resolution at 326ppi and 1400:1 contrast ratio and with True Tone, Wide Color Gamut and Haptic Touch. It can go upto 625 nits of brightness and it also features a second-generation Touch ID sensor inbuilt into the Home Button. No matter which iPhone color you choose, the bezels on the display and the Home Button will be black in color.

3. Performance: The iPhone SE (2nd Generation) is powered by the absolute beast, the A13 Bionic chip which is the same chip used in the iPhone 11 series.

4. Camera: The iPhone SE has a Single 12MP rear camera with a f/1.8 aperture and Six-element lens. It has Optical Image stabilization and upto 5x Digital Zoom. The rear camera also features Smart HDR, which will improve the quality of photos you take. You can shoot videos for upto 4K 60 fps. It also supports Extended Dynamic Range for video for upto 30fps. The 7MP front camera with f/2.2 aperture can shoot videos for upto 1080p 30fps. Both the front and rear cameras have Quicktake video support and Portrait Mode with advanced bokeh, Depth Control and Portrait Lighting with Six effects (Natural, Studio, Contour, Stage, Stage Mono, High-Key Mono). If we compare this to an iPhone Xr, then the iPhone SE’s rear camera has more Portrait Lighting effects than the iPhone Xr’s rear camera. The iPhone SE’s rear camera has Six Portrait Lighting Effects while the iPhone Xr’s Rear Camera from 2018 just has three. The iPhone SE also features Stereo Audio Recording for videos.

5. Network & Connectivity: The iPhone SE has support for 802.11ax WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5 VoLTE, and WiFi Calling. It has Dual Sim support (nano-sim and e-sim) which is great for users having two cell connections. It also features Gigabit Class LTE, NFC with Reader Mode, Express Transit with Power Reserve, and Built in GPS with Compass.

6. Battery & Charging: The refreshed iPhone SE battery lasts about the same as the iPhone 8. Apple says that the iPhone can charge upto 50% in 30 minutes with an 18W adapter or higher which is sold separately. You can also charge the iPhone SE (2nd Generation) Wirelessly with a Qi Wireless charger.

7. Colors, Pricing & Availability: Apple offers three color variants for the iPhone SE (2nd Generation) – Black, White and (PRODUCT) RED. All colors have black fronts so even if you’re planning to purchase a white iPhone, it is going to have a black front. It starts at $399 for the base 64GB variant. The 128GB variant costs $449 and the 256GB variant costs $549. The 2nd Generation iPhone SE is available to preorder on April 17th starting at 5 a.m., and will be available on April 24th. In the box, you’ll get the iPhone SE with iOS 13, 5W USB Power Adapter, Lightning to USB Cable, EarPods with Lightning Connector, and Documentation which includes a Quick Start Guide, Apple Stickers, and the Sim-Eject tool.
