With a lot of businesses trying to promote contactless purchases throughout the country due to the coronavirus pandemic, it appears the Kum & Go gas station chain is starting to implement it.
On May 18, Kum & Go rolled out an update to its iOS app (Version 6.0) that enabled users to pay for their gas at the pump without going inside the gas station to pay for it, and allowed them to pay for it with Apple Pay.
“Big news! You can now activate the pump and pay for fuel with the Kum & Go app! Pull up to your favorite Kum & Go store and tap Get Fuel to get started.”
Now users of its app can go to a gas pump, type in which pump they are using and then begin pumping the gas into their vehicle.
This is similar to what ExxonMobil has been doing for years from its iPhone and Apple Watch apps, enabling for users of those apps to fill up their cars and pay for the gas right from their selected device and to do so with Apple Pay.
Apple Pay is accepted in Kum & Go stores for those who do not want to use it in the company’s app. Those who use Apple Card in the app or store will get two percent in Daily Cash on their Apple Cash card.
