Apple releases iOS 12.4.8 and watchOS 5.3.8 for older devices

Along with iOS & iPadOS 13.6, Apple has also released a security update for older devices running iOS 12.

Apple has today released iOS 12.4.8 and watchOS 5.3.8 along with iOS & iPadOS 13.6, watchOS 6.2.8, tvOS 13.4.8 and macOS Catalina 10.15.6.

According to Apple on the iOS 12.4.8 update – “iOS 12.4.8 provides important security updates and is recommended for all users. Some features may not be available for all regions or on all Apple devices. For information on the security content of Apple software updates, please visit this website: https://support.apple.com/kb/HT201222 ” 

iOS 12.4.8 has been released for the iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPad Air, iPad Mini 2, iPad Mini 3 and iPod Touch (6th generation). Apple might be working on patching the checkra1n Jailbreak under-the-hood along with these security updates.

According to Apple on the watchOS 5.3.8 update, “This update provides important security updates and is recommended for all users. For information on the security content of Apple software updates, please visit this website: https://support.apple.com/kb/HT201222

watchOS 5.3.8 has also been released for the Apple Watch Series 1, Apple Watch Series 2, Apple Watch Series 3, and Apple Watch Series 4 linked with an older iPhone running iOS 12.

These new updates come almost after 2 months of the release of iOS 12.4.7 and watchOS 5.3.7 also bringing in security improvements. Apple is simply winning in terms of Software Updates when compared to its competitors. The oldest iPhone to be supported with iOS 12.4.8 is the iPhone 5s, which was released in 2013 and it is amazing to see Apple provide security updates till date for a phone which is almost 7 years old which makes Apple a clear winner in terms of Security & Software updates.
