Right in time for the holiday season, Apple Pay support has officially launched at Walmart retail stores in Canada.

The card readers being used at these Canadian Walmart stores is the Igenico Lane/7000, which does have an embedded NFC reader, meaning customers can checkout with Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay or their contactless cards.

On the card reader, you will also see the blue universal symbol for supporting NFC-based contactless payments as well, which is a symbol that other retailers in Canada and the United States use to show they accept it.

An image posted on Reddit shows this:

This also means for Apple Card users in the country that they can get 2% in Daily Cash on each purchase they make at the company’s retail stores.

By bringing Apple Pay and contactless support for Canadian Walmart stores, it could mean the company has future plans to bring it to its American stores. However, U.S. Walmart has not said much about it in recent months.

At this time, it is unknown when Walmart Canada will bring Apple Pay support to its iPhone and iPad apps, but with the launch of contactless payment acceptance in its stores, putting that feature in its apps are probably in the works.
