As the Anti-COVID vaccination campaigns around the U.S are slowly on the way, Los Angeles County now allows residents to add vaccination proof to Apple Wallet on iPhones, reports Bloomberg.
LA County is partnering with Healthvana ”“ a platform that healthcare providers use to send COVID-19 results to patients ”“ to add vaccination proof to patient’s iPhones using Apple Wallet. Vaccination proof is critical to ensure that patients will receive a second dose in a two-dose process.
Claire Jarashow, LA’s director of vaccine-preventable disease control told Bloomberg:
”We’re really concerned. We really want people to come back for that second dose, we just don’t have the capacity to be doing hundreds of medical record requests to find people’s first doses and when they need to get their second.”
Los Angeles County will send data to Healthvana every night on Amazon Web Services HIPAA-compliant servers, Jarashow tells Bloomberg that ”it’s as safe as we can make it,” and that ”I would feel comfortable using it.”
For now, the Apple Wallet vaccination record will inform patients who got their first COVID vaccine about their second appointment to ensure they will get a second vaccine.
