During the earnings call for Q2 2021, Tim Cook revealed that the “standard” 6.1-inch iPhone 12 is the most popular model out of the lineup. He also noted that both flagship Pro models are also selling phenomenally. However, he didn’t reveal any sale numbers for the iPhone 12 mini.

For months, reports confirmed that the iPhone 12 mini wasn’t selling very well. However, we expect Apple to retain the smaller “mini” for this year’s lineup in the fall. Starting next year, Apple will do away with the smaller form factor. While poor sales might be disappointing, that doesn’t mean that the iPhone 12 mini is a commercial flop. After all, there’s still a demographic for a smaller flagship smartphone. With the more expensive iPhone 12 as the most popular model, the average selling price has increased. Therefore, Apple will gain more profit margins. A video from Apple Explained discussed the reasons why the iPhone 12 mini could be a successful product:

Last week, Apple unveiled a new color for both the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini – purple. Orders start last Friday, and initial shipments should arrive to customers by April 30.

What do you think about the iPhone 12’s lineup and specifically, the iPhone 12 mini? Do you think the iPhone 12 is a flop or a success? Let us know in the comments below, or tweet us at @Appleosophy.
