While 2021 has not been the same when it comes to stores and businesses getting Apple Pay support, there has been a considerable number of banks outside of the United States that have been getting it, meaning more Apple Pay transactions across the world.
It was announced today that Investec in South Africa is the newest bank over there to begin getting Apple Pay support.
This is the fourth bank in South Africa to get it right after Discovery Bank, Nedbank and Absa started accepting it near the end of March 2021.
In fact, the only banks left in South Africa to not accept it are Capitec, Standard Bank and FNB.
Now that Apple Pay is available in South Africa through Investec, users can get access to paying for their items through a contactless form of payment, as well as Apple Cash, which is Apple’s version of Venmo that enables users to pay each other through iMessage and then have that money on their Apple Cash card in the Apple Wallet app.
Of course, Apple Pay can be used in person on the iPhone and Apple Watch, and online through devices like the iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and Mac.
