We have less than 24 hours until WWDC 2021, and we’ve already got some last-minute leaks for watchOS 8. According to the new profile for the App Store, we can see Mind, Tips, and Contacts apps for the watchOS platform.
Apple has had the Breathe app since the earliest days of the Apple Watch. With mental health as a priority for physical health along with recent studies, Apple could bring an app that’s entirely focused on mental wellness. Mark Gurman recently suggested that the Mind app will be a new, rebranded version of the Breathe app, similar to how Apple rebranded the Activity app to the Fitness app.
The iOS platform has had both Tips and Contacts apps for many years, and with watchOS borrowing more apps from iOS over the past few years, this year will be no exception. Tips would bring very helpful tips on how to use your Apple Watch similar to how you use your iPhone. watchOS actually has the Contacts functionality that’s just buried in the Phone app, so now it’s time for a dedicated Contacts app for improved simplicity.
We could see one more app based on the Find My app. Currently, Find My on watchOS 7 supports only finding friends, hence the name ‘Find People.’ Therefore, we could see Apple bringing support to finding items, potentially taking advantage of Precision Finding with AirTag and the U1 chip found on Apple Watch Series 6.
What do you think about these upcoming apps for watchOS 8? Let us know in the comments below, or tweet us @Appleosophy.
