Apple has unveiled the new Apple Watch Series 7 today during the Apple Event, here is everything you need to know:
Apple Watch Series 7 gains a new display, being nearly edge-to-edge, the watch’s size is almost the same but houses a larger display thanks to 40% thinner bezels. And no, the watch doesn’t have the iPhone 12-inspired square design that was rumored before.
The bezels are 1.7mm while the display itself is 70% brighter than Apple Watch Series 6. Thanks to the larger display Apple says that you can see 50% more text and can type on a full keyboard.
The Apple Watch Series 7 also supports dust and crack resistance as an addition to water resistance, this works by featuring IP6X rating. Finally, the new watch display features two new watch-faces to take advantage of the much larger display. One is a weird watch-face that highlights the bigger display and one modular featuring more info.
Similarities with Series 6 includes the same S6 chip and sensors, this means no, this watch didn’t bring a blood pressure sensor. Perhaps Apple is saving this technology to next year.
The new Apple Watch comes in five new colors (being gold, black, red, blue, and a new dark green), with bigger sizes: 41mm and 45mm sizes, 1mm more than the previous gen, making this watch the biggest Apple Watch to date.
Regarding battery life, this watch will sport the same battery from the previous gen, but in the box the company will include a USB-C to magnet charger instead of USB-A. Apple claims that if you charge the watch for eight minutes, you’ll gain eight hours of battery life.
Apple Watch Series 7 launch with watchOS 8 “later this fall” starting at $399, while the whole 2021 lineup includes Apple Watch Series 3 at $199 and Apple Watch SE for $279.
