This is the official description of the update that came in Version 7.43 today:

“In this release, we are helping spread the Hulu love by introducing SharePlay. With SharePlay, you can watch content from the Hulu streaming library in sync with friends and family over FaceTime. We also launched a feature allowing Live TV users to easily flip between channels during playback. Upgrade to the newest version of the app on your iPhone or iPad to try it out.”

What this means is users will be able to watch content from Hulu with family and friends via a FaceTime video call. This includes the entire on-demand catalog Hulu currently offers. However, it is unclear at this time if SharePlay functionality is available for its live channels on Hulu with Live TV.

Other apps such as Disney+, ESPN+, Pluto TV and others have support for SharePlay. You can see our full list of apps that currently have it too.

Please note that in order to use SharePlay, the iPhone or iPad user must be running iOS 15.1 and iPadOS 15.1 or newer.

Hulu currently costs $6.99 a month with ads and $12.99 for an ad-free experience. Both tiers can be subscribed to through Apple via in-app purchases. Hulu with Live TV currently costs $69.99 a month too. The Hulu app does sync with the Apple TV app as well.
