We’re getting close to the end of the traditional summer vacation for students and teachers all across the country. The good news is there is still plenty of content to watch this month so you can get your final “hurrah.”

TV:

  • “House of the Dragon”: For all of you “Game of Thrones” fans out there, this show could be the one that might make you feel better about the series finale of the show. To make it even better, it has Matt Smith from “Doctor Who” in it. It will premiere on HBO Max on Sunday, August 21.

  • “Beavis and Butt-Head” (Season 9): The two idiotic best friends are back at it again after 10+ years of no new episodes. The new season will premiere on Thursday, August 4, on Paramount+.

  • “Hard Knocks: Training Camp with the Detroit Lions”: With a new football season a month or so away, this will be your free ticket to see what the Detroit Lions have ready for the 2022 NFL season. This show will premiere on HBO Max on Tuesday, August 9.

  • “Abbott Elementary” (Season 1): The series’ first season will be available to stream on HBO Max starting on Tuesday, August 20.

  • “Star Trek Lower Decks” (Season 3): This third season of this animated “Star Trek” series will premiere on Paramount+ on Thursday, August 25.

Movies:

  • “The Perks of Being a Wallflower”: While this movie is great for the end of the school year, it is also a good movie to watch for the beginning of a new one. Be sure to stream this movie on HBO Max to find out how introverted Charlie survives his freshman year of high school.

  • “Drillbit Taylor”: Speaking of starting school this month, this is another great movie about the beginning of a new school year for three teens, starring Owen Wilson. The movie can be streamed on Prime Video and Paramount+.

  • “The Devil Wears Prada”: Is your summer internship coming to an end? Are you perhaps doing an internship this fall instead? Either way, this movie can be a great blueprint for the dos and don’ts of an internship. It can be streamed on Hulu and Prime Video.

  • “LEGO Star Wars Summer Vacation”: For all of the young kids out there that are “Star Wars” fans, this could be the special program just for them. It will premiere on Disney+ on Friday, August 5.

  • “Fantastic Beasts”: I have personally been watching these ones lately and they add up pretty well. They can all currently be streamed on HBO Max.

Sports:

  • Jaguars vs. Raiders (NFL): This is the kickoff of the 2022 NFL preseason. That’s right, football is here again! This game will be played at 8 p.m. ET on Thursday, August 4, on NBC and streaming live on Peacock and NFL+.

  • Ravens vs. Cardinals (NFL): Sticking with the preseason theme, this game will be played at 8 p.m. on Sunday, August 21, on FOX and streaming live on NFL+.

  • Lions vs. Steelers (NFL): At this point, it’s the final game of the preaseason and it will be played at 4:30 p.m. ET on Sunday, August 28, on CBS and streaming live on Paramount+.

  • Nebraska vs. Northwestern (College Football): What will make this game interesting is not only is it an early conference game matchup, but the game is being played in Ireland. With that said, it will be played at 12:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, August 27, on FOX.

  • Vanderbilt vs. Hawaii (College Football): It will be a late-night game for most of the country, but one that could be an interesting one to watch. It will be played at 10:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, August 27, on CBS Sports Network.
