Apple is mapping out its feature for Apple Maps.
Apple’s free GPS service is apparently going to be getting advertisements on it according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.
These ads that you would see in the app would not be the traditional banner ads that you would see in other apps like Apple News, but more so paid search results.
What this could look like is if you type in something like “coffee shops” in Apple Maps, it would show you paid search results by places like Starbucks, Dunkin’, or McDonald’s.
Gurman also highlighted that Apple is attempting to expand its ad business. Currently, the company has made about $4 billion a year from it and the plan is to get it to $10 billion annually over the next few years.
