Apple is inching closer to the final development of iOS 16 ahead of the rumored keynote next month on September 7th. The software engineers have finalized the initial release of the first version of iOS, meaning that we won’t see any new features – for now – reports Mark Gurman of Bloomberg.

In his latest Power On edition on Sunday, Gurman reiterates his previous claims about the slated launch of iOS 16 and watchOS 9 next month. At the same time, iPadOS 16 and macOS Ventura are pushed to October to coincide with another iPad and Mac-focused event.

The final development status of iOS 16 means that we won’t see any new features or changes to the overall software experience, Apple would instead focus on bug fixes as well as primary user experience ahead of the final release in September.

“The iOS 16.0 update, which Apple engineers finished work on this past week, is due to launch in September alongside watchOS 9. Those updates will correspond with the new hardware. The macOS Ventura and iPadOS upgrades, on the other hand, are now scheduled for October (after Stage Manager-related delays to the iPad software) to match the new hardware lineup.”

Last week, Gurman reported the date of Apple’s next event which is presumed to be held on September 7th, this is not the first time Apple holds a keynote on this day. Back in 2016, Apple held a special event on the same day which announced the iPhone 7 and the Apple Watch Series 2.

iOS 16 will bring numerous new features to the iPhone, the biggest of which are the revamped lock screen and new customization capabilities. Other new additions include iCloud Shared Photo Library, Focus Filters, Live Text for videos, iMessage functionalities like edit, “undo send”, improved dictation, Apple Pay Later, a revamped Home app, and the reintroduction of the battery percentage icon.
