Apple announced the all-new Apple Watch SE along with the Apple Watch Series 8, iPhone 14 lineup, and the 2nd Generation AirPods Pro at the “Far Out” event. The new watch now starts at $249 (GPS) and $299 (GPS + Cellular) which is a $30 price drop from its predecessor. Let’s find out the differences between the two of them.

Design

Although the physical design of the two watches is identical, the new SE comes in Midnight, Starlight, and Silver color options as opposed to the Silver, Black, and Gold in 1st generation. The new SE features a new back case made of nylon composite materials and is claimed to have an 80 percent reduction in its carbon emissions.

Performance

The new Apple Watch SE includes the S8 SiP advanced dual-core processor, the same processor that is in Apple Watch Series 8 and Apple Watch Ultra. Apple claims that it is 20 percent faster than the previous generation.

Safety & Durability

According to Apple, the new Apple Watch SE is now swim-proof. It provides water resistance for up to 50 meters in depth. It also comes equipped with a new and upgraded heart rate sensor and fall detection.
