Like we reported a few days ago, the popular Dark Sky weather is no longer functional.

This is due to Apple purchasing the app back in March 2020 and then adding select features from the app to its own default Weather app with iOS 15 in fall 2021. The Weather app was added to the iPad with iPadOS 16 this past fall too.

Apple also removed the app from the App Store last fall due to upcoming demise of the app.

Additions to the default Weather app from Dark Sky include the radar, severe weather alerts, and more advanced weather information and data.

Dark Sky’s API is set to be shut down on March 31, 2023, which means apps like CARROT Weather will not be able to use it as a data source after that date.
