Just last month, Apple launched the current iPhone 14 models in an additional color – Yellow. Now, according to a Weibo post, the standard iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus models are expected to feature a frosted back glass similar to those of the existing Pro models. Since the iPhone 11 series, Apple differentiated the standard and Pro models with their glass back panels. The standard models feature a glossy back finish while the Pro models feature a frosted back finish.
We’ve seen some of the flagship features first introduced on the Pro models make their way to the standard models eventually such as OLED displays, and we’ll likely see the Dynamic Island also make its way to the standard iPhone 15 models. While the upcoming iPhone 15 Pro models will look similar to the existing Pro models thanks to the frosted back, the upcoming iPhone 15 Pro will switch to a titanium frame from a stainless steel frame. The standard models will retain the familiar aluminum frame.
Additionally, the standard iPhone 15 will be offered in “cyan” as one of the upcoming colors, and that finish will be similar to the green color that Apple offered in the standard iPhone 12 models. 9to5Mac previously reported that a “deep red” color will be one of the iPhone 15 Pro’s color options. Notably, the rear glass panel on both the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus is a huge improvement for easier internal repairs, so we hope to see that on the upcoming iPhone 15 as well in spite of the switch to a different finish. Both the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro are expected to be introduced this September.
