There are a lot of streaming services out there and one of them is Discovery+.
The streaming service has programming that is tied to the Discovery Networks which includes channels such as Animal Planet, Food Network, Discovery Channel, HGTV, CNN, and others.
Earlier this year, Discovery+ was merged with HBO Max which created the streaming service MAX. MAX was formed due to the Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) merger last year.
The good news for Discovery+ is its ad-supported tier is staying at its current price of $4.99 a month. However, its ad-free plan will be raised to by $2 more per month to $8.99 a month.
This is the first time since its launch in 2021 that Discovery+ is getting a price increase.
Current customers of the streaming service that continue to subscribe to it will receive the price change in their December 2023 bill.
Customers do have the option to subscribe to MAX which will have content from both HBO Max and Discovery+. The ad-supported tier of MAX costs $9.99 a month and ad-free for $15.99 a month. There is another plan called the “Ultimate Ad-Free Plan” which includes support for 4K UHD streaming.
The Discovery+ price increase comes at a time where other streaming services have raised their prices just over the past several months this year which include Hulu, Disney+, ESPN+, Peacock, Paramount+, and Britbox (on Apple TV Channels too).
Discovery+ is available to stream on the iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, and Mac.
