Earlier this year, we reported that Lowe’s, the popular American home improvement retail store chain, had begun accepting Apple Pay in its app.

Several months later, we now have proof that the company’s stores have started accepting Apple Pay in them.

In the photo sent us below, you will see an Ingenico Lane/7000 card reader that shows the NFC tap logo on the bottom-left side next to the keypad, along with a silver Lowe’s sticker on the bottom-right side. The photo is said to be taken from a Lowe’s store in Frisco, TX.

Please keep in mind that not all stores may not have Apple Pay acceptance at this time and that it could be a gradual rollout throughout the holiday season this year.

With Lowe’s beginning to accept Apple Pay in its stores, it becomes another home improvement chain that accepts it, alongside others such as Menards and Ace Hardware. Ace Hardware is a 3% Daily Cash merchant for Apple Card users too.

However, Home Depot, the biggest competitor in the home improvement business, does not currently accept it and has been an Apple Pay hold out for several years.

Excellent news. And hopefully the rollout will be quick and it will inspire Home Depot. That will leave Walmart on its island. I’ve already planned purchases for Lowe’s as they support Apple Pay.
