Apple has started rolling out watchOS 10.2 to the public with new features and security updates. This update addresses 8 security vulnerabilities with Kernel, WebKit, and more.
This update comes a little over a month and a half after the release of watchOS 10.1.1 which fixed a battery drain issue. Apple keeps refining the software experience with every watchOS update by fixing bugs and security flaws. The size of the update can vary depending upon the Apple Watch model that you have and the software version you’re updating from.
According to the release notes,
“watchOS 10.2 includes new features, improvements, and bug fixes, including:
– Access and log Health app data with Siri (Available on Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2)
– Automatically view Now Playing when in proximity of HomePod (2nd generation) or HomePod mini playing media from Music or Podcasts (Available on – Apple Watch Series 6 and later and Apple Watch Ultra)
– Enable the ability to swipe to change watch faces in Settings
– Enable the ability to confirm ending workouts in Settings
– Prioritize the volume of either the music or trainers’ voices in most Fitness+ workouts
– Resolves an issue that can cause watch faces added in the Watch app on iPhone to not appear on Apple Watch”
Users can update their Apple Watch by going into the Watch App on their iPhone and navigating to My Watch>General>Software Update. The update requires your Apple Watch to be near your paired iPhone and have at least 50% Battery. watchOS 10 is available for Apple Watch Series 4 and later.
Along with watchOS 10.2, Apple also released iOS 17.2, iPadOS 17.2, macOS Sonoma 14.2, tvOS 17.2, and more to the public with several new features, bug fixes, and important security updates.
