As Apple received FCC approval for the upcoming Vision Pro, which will be available in the United States initially, we’re getting further details on what features the device will not include.
First, Vision Pro will have the Wi-Fi 6 standard that will work with both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequency bands, instead of the more advanced Wi-Fi 6E standard that’s found in the latest iPad Pro models, iPhone 15 Pro models, and all the current Mac models save for the MacBook Air lineup. The rest of the more modern devices such as the iPad 10 and iPhone 15 models still use the Wi-Fi 6 standard.
Secondly, according to Zac Hall from 9to5Mac, Vision Pro will not support the Ultra Wideband technology, unlike iPhone 11 and later models except the SE, the AirPods Pro 2, and Apple Watch Series 6 and later models, including the Ultra.
While it seems like a bummer that Vision Pro will lack both of those features, there’s still a lot to look forward to what Vision Pro has to offer, particularly Apple Immersive Video that was previewed in today’s press release from Apple.
Vision Pro, powered by the M2 and R1 chips, will start at $3,499 with 256GB of storage and 16GB of unified memory. Pre-orders will start on Friday, January 19 at 5 a.m. PST. Availability will start on Friday, February 2.
