Appleosophy | Fantastical iPad app gets support for Live Activities

The folks over at Flexibits have brought Live Activities to its iPad app.

For those that don’t know, Live Activities enable users to have a live view of in-the-moment updates from apps such as Fantastical, as well others like UberEats, DoorDash, and sporting apps like the MLB and NBA apps.

Fantastical’s iPhone app got support for Live Activities in early 2023.

The developers of the app state that “in Fantastical, you can enable Live Activities to start automatically by going to the Alerts & Notifications tab in Fantastical’s Settings and tapping Live Activities. Toggle on the option for Start for Upcoming Events, and then choose the time frame for your Live Activity event window. Fantastical will start with the first event on your schedule that matches this setting, and then run in the background without intervention while moving through all relevant events.

However, in order to get Fantastical’s Live Activities to work on either the iPhone or iPad, it must be running in the background.

Fantastical’s iPad app getting Live Activities support came in Version 3.8.10.
