This week, Day One Journal launched a new feature called “Shared Journals” that enables other friends and users to share journals together.

The new feature was released in Version 2024.2 of its app for the iPhone and iPad.

Here is how the company described the new feature in a recent blog post:

Shared Journals are a private space for your closest friends and family to shared life updates and memories. Shared Journals introduce a new dimension to journaling, offering a unique way to share your personal stories and experiences with up to 30 selected individuals, while keeping your individual entries private and secure.”

The company also mentioned other aspects of the new feature:

  • Shared and Private Journals Are Always Kept Separate: Choosing to share your journal or keep it private is a personal decision. Shared Journals are alwaysseparated from your personal journals. No entry in a private journal will ever be shareable, only entries created in a Shared Journal.
  • Limited to 30 Members per Shared Journal: Shared Journals can include up to 30 members (including the owner). Perfect for sharing with a large family, a group of friends, or even a small community or club, everyone invited can stay connected and updated with each other’s journal entries.
  • Always End-to-End Encrypted:Safety and privacy are paramount to journals, even the ones you share. With military-grade end-to-end encryption, your Shared Journals are secured, ensuring that only invited members can access and read the content.
  • Interactive Commenting and Reactions: Members can leave comments and reactions on Shared Journal entries, adding an additional layer of interactivity to shared stories and experiences.

For the time being, the feature will only be available to Day One Premium users.

The company also highlighted some other uses of these Shared Journals such as family memory books, travel journals, support groups, a couples journal, as well as a way to track personal growth.

Day One Premium starts at $2.92 a month or $34.99 a year. You can learn more about the features of its premium tier here.
