CARROT Weather will be available on Apple Vision Pro

Popular third-party weather app CARROT Weather is gearing up and preparing to be supported on the new Apple Vision Pro headset that is set to be released this Friday to the public.

The app has received its own original design for visionOS for the Apple Vision Pro and comes with features such as being able to have a 3D view of the world that shows temperatures, wind speeds, and precipitation info.

Its view is similar to what users might have seen from its AR view on CARROT Weather’s iPhone and iPad apps.

Brian Mueller, the developer behind CARROT Weather, did release a post on Reddit recently that did state all of the new changes in Version 5.12.12 of CARROT. The updates can be seen below.

New Features / Improvements

  • Added additional information to Special Weather Statement notifications.
  • Added additional backups in the event that data gets erased due to a bug in iOS 17. (The backup should get restored automatically in the event of an issue.)
  • Added a timeout to auto-dismiss the widget details screen.
  • Added a new secret location and a new achievement.
  • Added some language to clarify streak resets, since in some cases the streak reset message won’t appear at the time the streak actually resets.
  • Updated Chinese, Danish, Finnish, French, German, Portuguese, and Spanish translations.

Weather Map Issues

  • Restored next-hour radar in Canada.
  • Removed static image workaround for old iPhones/iPads (thank you Apple for fixing the bug!).
  • Fixed storm cell, weather alert, and tropical storm callouts not appearing in the correct location if Display Zoom is enabled.
  • Fixed message prompting users to upgrade to Premium Ultra when trying to view Super-Res Radar in a location where Super-Res Radar is not available.
  • Fixed lock icon not appearing next to Half-Day Precipitation Forecast for non-Premium members.
  • Fixed available precipitation products randomly changing for Canadian users.
  • Fixed inspector tool not returning the correct values on the Wind map preset.
  • Fixed map legend for Wind preset not showing the blue color for values below 5 mph.

Customization Issues

  • Fixed missing icons in Precipitation section.
  • Fixed date overlapping data points in the Daily Forecast section with the vertical stack style.

Data Source Issues

  • Fixed Tomorrow.io reporting snow when temperatures are well above freezing.
  • Fixed AccuWeather’s short-term precipitation sometimes appearing empty.
  • Fixed WillyWeather sometimes not including daily forecast data.

Widget Issues

  • Fixed widget retrieving data for current location when the main app is configured to use the last viewed location.

Miscellaneous Issues

  • Fixed data not being downloaded for the correct location immediately after traveling a significant distance (i.e. a plane trip).
  • Fixed incorrect navigation bar height on Weather and Maps tabs with iPhones that have a Dynamic Island.
  • Fixed custom notifications that have the same name as an existing notification not being editable.
  • Fixed weather alerts not appearing in widgets or on the Apple Watch if the alert doesn’t have an expiration date.
  • Fixed “error loading alert” message that would show up on the alerts screen for some users even if the alert loaded just fine.
  • Fixed membership setup steps not immediately updating on iPad and Mac when one of the steps is completed.
  • Fixed toggle switches on screens that require Premium allowing user interaction.
  • Fixed missing translations for Premium membership setup steps.
