If you own both a Tesla and an iPhone, you may want to read this. Apple introduced its Ultra Wideband technology starting with the iPhone 11 models, and it has become a standard across all of its latest iPhones since then except the iPhone SE models. Now, according to Not a Tesla App, with the latest update to the Tesla app, it will finally take advantage of this technology, allowing you to unlock, lock, or even open the Automatic Doors of your Tesla with better response times and improved accuracy. As a bonus tip, you have an iPhone 15 Pro, you can now program the new Action Button to lock your Tesla as well.

You’ll need to have all of the following to take advantage of the Ultra Wideband technology:

  • An iPhone 11 model or later, except the iPhone SE (2nd generation and later).
  • Tesla app version 4.29.5 or later.
  • The latest-generation Tesla Model 3 (which was introduced last month), the 2023 Tesla Model X, or the Cybertruck

Yes, as a friendly reminder, not all Tesla models will support the Ultra Wideband technology as that feature is currently available on the aforementioned models above. Not a Tesla App additionally points out that despite all updated Model S and Model X vehicles having the latest UWB technology, they don’t support the upgraded Phone Key feature at the moment, nor will Android phones with UWB tech built-in. In contrast, the only current generation vehicle that doesn’t support UWB connectivity is the Model Y.

The latest update to the Tesla app is available to download for most of the latest Tesla vehicles. If you enjoying our content, make sure to follow @Appleosophy for more articles to come.
