Apple has announced an all-new Sports app, allowing sports fans to view different game schedules, statistics, real-time scores and more. Users from the US, UK and Canada are able to download the app from the App Store as of February 21st, 2024, with the expectation to expand to more countries further down the line. The app is free to download and provides users with the ability to follow specific teams and leagues across a range of sports such as football (soccer), American football, basketball, baseball – for both male and female versions.

“We created Apple Sports to give sports fans what they want — an app that delivers incredibly fast access to scores and stats,” – Eddy Cue

Keeping score is easy to follow with a native iOS design, fresh from Apple. Rather than having to download a third party service, or ask Siri, the Apple Sports app is accessible and convenient for avid sports fans. iCloud Syncing for Apple Sports is also available, giving the user the ability to see scores scross multiple devices and backed up with their phone.

The app features a “Betting Odds” section for those whom are interested in gambling on certain matches. Alongside this is a full league table, with a points and wins/losses breakdown for each team.

The app is relatively light, coming in at only ~16MB however this could change as future updates are added. Apple Sports requires iOS 17.2 or later to run and can also be connected with live sports services from AppleTV and AppleTV+ for pay-per-view games or subscription related services.
