The folks over at Instagram have added what could be a nifty new feature for their iOS app.

Instagram is now rolling out a new update that contains a new feature that brings a Lock Screen widget to the iOS app. What the Lock Screen widget does is open the Instagram app and immediately take you to your Story Camera.

It’s a small feature, yes, but it could be a somewhat innovative way for Instagram to compete with other social media companies with stories such as Snapchat.

This update also after Instagram released Live Activities for Story posts last year, as reported by 9to5Mac.

When users are in the process of uploading content to their Instagram Story and then leave the app, you get Live Activities shown either on your iPhone’s Lock Screen or Dynamic Island that indicate the percentage and status of your Story being posted to your account.
