Apple’s current generation of AirPods Pro has been the best model the company has ever made in the AirPods lineup. It has also been the most popular AirPods ever with several new features that you just can’t find in other models in the lineup. Now, Mark Gurman from Bloomberg has come out with a new report as part of his weekly newsletter, Powered On.

He expects that Apple has been working on at least a new feature coming to iOS 18 for AirPods Pro users, and that will be some type of “hearing aid mode”, which will be a great accessibility solution for people with hearing impairments. Over the past few years, Apple has been implementing hearing-enhancing modes for AirPods. iOS 12 saw the Live Listen feature, which lets users listen to the audio transmitted by the connected iPhone in real-time. With iOS 15 and AirPods Pro, users are able to use Conversation Boost, which is essentially helpful to listen to other people’s conversations without getting lost in the audio you’re playing. With the latest generation of AirPods Pro, customers now have features that can work seamlessly like Adaptive Audio and Conversation Awareness depending on your surroundings.

As the FDA has established new guidelines for over-the-counter hearing aids without any medical exams, we hope Apple will make the AirPods Pro more accessible to a wider audience.
