Since the beginning of this month, we’ve been expecting a significant upgrade to the iPad Pro; however, as we’re nearing the end of March, we’ve yet to see such an announcement from Apple. Now, earlier this week, “Instant Digital” claimed that we may see iPad-related announcements as soon as March 26. However, Mark Gurman from Bloomberg now states otherwise.

He’s mentioned multiple times that Apple has been working on a “special version” of the iPadOS 17.4 update specifically for the upcoming iPad Pros. Our take is that Apple needs to continue developing the variant of the software update so that it can optimize all of the software features that will take advantage of the newer hardware in those models. The next iPad Pro is expected to come with the M3 chip, which features hardware-accelerated ray-tracing and mesh-shading. With other improvements across the upcoming hardware, the specialized version of the update may offer several exclusive software features that will take advantage of the latest specs.
Gurman even says that once the software version is released, it will take several weeks for the update to be deployed to the tablets in the factory before those devices as shipped to the market. Apple may push the announcements deeper into next month; we just have less than ten days to see whether we’ll see new iPads this month. Read more on what to expect for the next iPad Pro.
