What you can do with your Apple device while waiting in line

It’s no secret that if you go to any stores, businesses, airports, or events in the public arena that you will have to likely wait in some form of line.

This could be the line for the regular or self-checkout at the grocery or retail store, line at a restaurant (or a simple seat waiting list), the line to get through airport security, or the line at the DMV.

Thankfully, Apple devices like the iPhone and iPad have you covered with all sorts of things to do to keep your preoccupied and perhaps help you get the most out of your day.

Here are just some of the many things you can do while waiting in line with Apple products:

  • Manage your social media: This one here is probably a given, but waiting in line is a good time to check out the latest on your social media, whether that is Facebook, Twitter/X, Instagram, Threads, TikTok, etc.

  • Apple Books: We can’t all be like Rory from the TV series “Gilmore Girls” and carry a book around with us all the time”¦or can we? With Apple Books, you can pull out your iPhone and read a book. It’s an excellent way to relax and have something to do while you wait in line. Bonus points if you have and brought with you an iPad Mini, as I have personally found it to be the best device to read ebooks on.

  • Apple Music and Podcasts: There’s no shame in putting in some AirPods and listening to some music or a podcast while you’re waiting in line.

  • Journaling: Whether this be with the Apple Journal app on the iPhone or other third-party journaling apps like Day One Journal, MyDiary, or even the Moleskin Journey Life Planner app, journaling is an excellent way to get your thoughts out there but in a private way. The method has also been said to be a great way to balance your mental health too.

  • Mobile games: Games like Candy Crush, Minecraft, and Wordscapes are good ways to keep you and your mind busy while doing the annoying task of waiting in a line.

Using any of these methods can be great for the now and later in the summer as more and more people are out and about and traveling.

Fun Fact: I actually got this idea for this story after waiting in line at my local Target store. It’s funny and ironic how things in life work out sometimes, isn’t it?
