In the company’s weekly Apple TV app email, it was announced that they are having a sale on a select variety of movies. All of these will cost $7.99 and will be able to be purchased through iTunes or the Apple TV app.
Note that the $7.99 price is to purchase the movie and not rent it. To rent these movies instead, you will still be able to rent them through iTunes but that the prices for them may vary.
