How to get an app-like version of Threads on your iPad in 2024

Avatar for David Becker

Threads, made by the folks over at Meta (Instagram and Facebook), was a social network that was launched last year.

The social network works a lot like X (formerly known an Twitter) in the sense that it is a microblogging platform that allows for up to 500 words in a post, whereas X only allows for 280 characters (outside of X Premium).

Threads also is tied to a user’s Instagram account, which does make it more personal in that regard. Just like with Instagram, Threads does not currently have an iPad app, which means users have to primarily post from a device like their iPhone or use the browser version of Threads.

However, there is a nifty way of adding a Threads app to your iPad. The way to do this is through the following steps:

  • Log into your Instagram account through it

  • Once logged in, go to the share icon in the top-right corner of the Safari browser, tap it, and then select Add to Home Screen
  • After that is done, it will add the website to your iPads app layout and be shaped just like if you downloaded an app from the App Store. Best of all, it looks just like what an iPad version of Threads should be.
