Yep, if you looked at your calendar depending on where you are, today’s May 4th. If you know you know, and in honor of “Star Wars Day”, Apple released a Star Wars-themed iPhone 15 ad that promotes ‘Find Your Friends’ with Precision Finding.
The ad centers around a person who’s dressed as a Mandalorian from the Star Wars universe. He gives his dog a treat, puts his iPhone 15 Pro in his pocket, and prepares to go out for a day. It’s a beautiful day for him, getting his morning drink, getting on the bus, and walking his way to a convention center. The biggest challenge for him when he gets there is to find his fellow Mandalorians in a center with hundreds of other Mandalorians. Thankfully with the ‘Find Your Friends’ feature in Find My. He can find his folks and head off for the rest of today.
The ‘Find Your Friends’ feature requires both users to have an iPhone 15 model, which makes this feature possible thanks to Precision Finding via the second-generation Ultra Wideband chip found in all the iPhone 15 models. Older iPhones may still use Find My to share and request locations but without Precision Finding.
