Along with the rumors regarding the latest version of watchOS on the Apple Watch this morning, there are new rumors surrounding which versions of the Apple TV will still be able to get the new version of tvOS.
It has been reported by MacRumors with rumors and leaks from X, formerly known as Twitter, that tvOS 18 is surprisingly going to surprisingly still support the Apple TV HD.
This is surprising if you consider the fact that the Apple TV HD was originally released in October 2015, making it nearly nine years old.
However, the good news is the device is still supported even with tvOS 17 and still has access to popular streaming apps such as Netflix, Disney+, Hulu, Prime Video, Peacock, and Paramount+.
With that said, if the rumors are true, then there will not be any product compatibility changes with tvOS 18, making it available for the following Apple TV models:
- Apple TV HD (released in 2015)
- Apple TV 4K first generation (released in 2017)
- Apple TV 4K second generation (released in 2021)
- Apple TV 4K third generation (released in 2022)
You can also stream today’s WWDC 2024 keynote live from any of the Apple TV models listed above. To find out how, view our article on that.
