iPadOS 18 has officially been introduced, and Apple has listed all the iPad models that will support this upcoming release.

  • iPad mini (5th generation and later)
  • iPad (7th generation and later)
  • iPad Air (3rd generation and later)
  • iPad Air (M2)
  • iPad Pro 11-inch (1st generation and later)
  • iPad Pro 12.9-inch (3rd generation and later)
  • iPad Pro (M4)

In summary, iPadOS 18 will support all iPad models with an A12 chip or later as well as the iPad (7th generation), which is based on an A10 chip. Interestingly enough, the iPad (6th generation) will be dropped despite having the same A10 chip as the 7th generation iPad. Furthermore, iPadOS 18 will also drop the iPad Pro 10.5-inch and the iPad Pro 12.9-inch (2nd generation), both of which were based on the A10X chip. Finally, Apple Intelligence will be available as beta on iPad models with an M1 chip or later.

iPadOS 18 is now available to developers starting today, followed by a public beta sometime next month. iPadOS 18 will be released to the public this fall.
