Most of Apple’s products are assembled in China; however, starting in 2017, Apple shifted its production for the original iPhone SE to India in 2017. Eventually, it shifted its assembly for more models to India, including the iPhone 13 and iPhone 14. Starting with the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus, Apple started production for those phones and made them available on day one of their global launch.
With an expansion of assembly lines and supply chains, Apple is planning to produce the next-generation iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max in that country later this year. Production for the said models will be managed by Apple’s long-standing partner, Foxconn. Moving its supply chains from China to India will allow Apple to expand its production and meet the highly-anticipated demand of its upcoming lineup of mainstream and flagship smartphones. It is also rumored that Apple will move its production to India for both the iPad and AirPods in the future.
The iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max are expected to feature the A18 Pro chip, slightly larger displays, an upgraded 48MP Ultra Wide camera, a tetraprism telephoto camera standard on both models, a new polished titanium finish with possibly new colors, and a new thermal design for better heat management. Both of those smartphones will support Apple Intelligence when it launches later this fall with iOS 18.1, which Apple released the first beta of that update today. We expect Apple to launch the iPhone 16 lineup in less than two months at its annual Apple event around September.Â
