With less than two months until the anticipated introduction of the iPhone 16 lineup, Sonny Dickson has gotten his hands on the dummy units for the iPhone 16. Those dummy units are used for case manufacturers to design and manufacture cases for the upcoming phones ahead of the launch. With that said the dummy units may show what the final design of the soon-to-be-announced phones will be.

For starters, the dummy units show a vertical camera arrangement for the wide and ultra-wide cameras, which would be a shift from the diagonal arrangement that was first used on the iPhone 13 models. This would be in line with previous rumors that the standard iPhone 16 models (iPhone 16 and 16 Plus) would have a vertical camera arrangement to support spatial video recording. This feature was introduced with the iPhone 15 Pro models shortly after the launch of the Vision Pro. This was made possible thanks to the swaps between the telephoto and ultra-wide lens.

Additionally, the dummy units show five different colors that the standard iPhone 16 could offer. Currently, the standard iPhone 15 models come in five (mostly) pastel colors:

  • Black
  • Blue
  • Green
  • Yellow
  • Pink

Based on those dummy units, the iPhone 16 will come in these colors:

  • Black
  • White
  • Blue
  • Pink
  • Green

These colors corroborated with Ming-Chi Kuo’s earlier report. These colors show off a different, bolder shade than the pastel ones that the iPhone 15 models use. With that said, these dummy units give us a better idea of what the next iPhone 16 may look like in terms of design and colors.

Other features we can expect for the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus are the A18 chip and 8GB RAM to support Apple Intelligence later in the fall, a new capture button, and an Action Button that’s introduced with the 15 Pro models. We expect Apple to announce the iPhone 16 lineup in September at its annual Apple event.
