Avatar for David Becker

Back to school season is officially here and both college and pro football are going to be kicking off again too this month. Needless to say, it’s still going to be a big month for streaming.

TV:

  • “Emily in Paris” (Season 4): This is quite the popular show on Netflix and the first part of its fourth season debuts exclusively on the streaming service on Thursday, August 15.

  • “Impractical Jokers” (Season 8): At times, we all need to be able to unwind and take a break from life. I know I’ve been in that type of headspace before. With that said, the jokers over here at “Impractical Jokers” have their eighth season coming to Hulu on Monday, August 5.

  • “The Rings of Power” (Season 2): The second season of this “Lord of the Rings” spin-off TV series debuts exclusively on Prime Video on Thursday, August 29.

  • “SEAL Team” (Season 7): The final season of this series will be released on Paramount+ on Sunday, August 11.

  • “Bel-Air” (Season 3): The third season of this popular Peacock Original will premiere exclusively on Peacock on Thursday, August 15.

Movies:

  • “The Perks of Being a Wallflower”: With back to school season coming around again, whether you’re going to be a freshman in high school or college, or are simply looking to watch a film that features the beginning of a school year, this is a great one to stream. It can currently be streamed for free through The Roku Channel.

  • “The Spectacular Now”: Once again, this can make for a great back to school film for people out there. It can currently be streamed on Netflix.

  • “Remember the Titans”: Football season is coming up and whether it is high school, collegiate, or pro football, you can get excited about the upcoming football season with this film on Disney+.

  • “What If”: This is an excellent indie film starring Daniel Radcliffe and Zoe Kazan, and is a great story for those perhaps in their 20s or 30s. The movie can be streamed for free on Pluto TV.

  • “Spider-Man” films: Since yesterday was officially “Spider-Man Day,” you could always spend this month rewatching some of the great “Spider-Man” films such as the ones with Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and Tom Holland, as well as Shameik Moore as Miles Morales. Most of the Maguire, Garfield, and Holland films can be streamed on Disney+ now, whereas the Miles Morales animated film “Across the Spider-Verse” can be streamed on Netflix.

Sports:

  • The 2024 NFL preseason: As of last night, this year’s NFL preseason has begun. There will be more games to be played throughout this month, so be sure to read our article on specifically how you can watch those games live.

  • 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris: Once again, the Olympics are and have been going on for a little over a week now and you can read our article here to find out how to stream the remaining events live, as well as the ending ceremonies.

  • Penn State vs. West Virginia (College Football): Yes, there is college football this month and the first week starts on the last day of August. How about that? With that said, this game will be on at 12 p.m. ET on Saturday, August 31, on FOX.

  • Notre Dame vs. Texas A&M (College Football): This game will be played at 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, August 31, on ABC.
